Anyone can do it...
‘Making something yourself can be really relaxing,’ says Marloes. ‘And we’re all creative! Things don’t have to be perfect, it’s fun to have an idea and see how it ends up!’ Marloes’ easy creations are the small, feel-good details you can add to your everyday dining table to lift a simple meal.
Idea 1: Recycle an old paper bag to make hand-torn place cards. Stick a name label on or just write the names. Then finish off with a sprig of herbs, here rosemary, tied in a loop with a piece of string.
Idea 2: Create a candle holder by cutting a shallow hole into an apple to fit a tealight. Make sure it’s steady by cutting a flat base. You can drip some wax for a decorative effect. Just be careful to avoid the tablecloth – and never leave a lit candle unattended!
‘I love to grow my own herbs, and when friends come round it’s nice to scent the table with little sprigs of rosemary’
