SUMMER SCRAPBOOK IDEAS FOR KIDS

01 April 2015

So, you plan on going to the zoo, eating ice cream at the beach and camping in the countryside. But no matter how hard you try, your kids still find a way to get bored. So what if that day at the beach could lead to at least two hours scrapbooking at the kitchen table too?

SCRAPBOOKING IN ACTION

Does it work? We invited three kids, Enzo (8), Trym (8) and Molly (6) into our Ideas Lab to see if our scrapbook idea actually grabs the attention of the very people we are trying to inspire. Check out what they came up with.

“One time at the beach we grilled sausages and found a big bird that looked really angry.”

Molly, 6 years.

ANTI-BOREDOM ESSENTIALS

Make a scrapbooking kit using coloured paper, pens, paint, fabric scraps, tape, scissors, glue (you get the picture). You can throw in some magazines, photographs and these downloadable cut-outs (pdf)downloadable cut-outs (pdf). And don’t forget to pick up some beachy ‘souvenirs’. Think shells, sand and... dead jellyfish?*

QUICK INSPIRATION

Sometimes, especially with younger kids, you need a starting point. Something to get the whole scrapbooking thing started. So here it is. A few inspiring ideas for the kind of things you can do. You don’t have to rely on pretty pictures and label makers. You don’t even have to document the big events. It’s often the small, everyday moments that are the most special.
