How to enjoy an open-air movie night

01 February 2016

As summer approaches and the evenings start to get warmer, why not invite friends round for an alfresco film screening, like Olga did when we visited her in the Czech Republic? All you have to do is plug in a laptop, project onto a wall, add throws and lanterns for a warm and comfy atmosphere, then sit back and enjoy the show…

SET THE SCENE

Olga likes to add small personal touches. ‘I like to write little messages on chalkboards around my house, so I do the same outside to let my guests know what time the film is starting. Then I use the back of my clipboard to take orders for people’s drinks during the interval!’

REPURPOSE SOMETHING OLD

In the garden, you can experiment with all those things you might not use on a daily basis. ‘I use an old sledge as a table for drinks and snacks. It doesn’t matter so much if it gets dirty or scratched and adds a fun, relaxed feel to the evening.’

‘We’ve always loved outdoor cinemas so, one day, we just thought, why not create one in our own garden? It’s so easy to do and adds a magical feeling to your movie night’
