Home visit: an easy way to celebrate breakfast

06 October 2017

It’s the weekend and you’ve got some extra time on your hands – that’s enough reason to celebrate! Take your morning a little more slowly and put together a sit-down breakfast around the dining table, even if it’s just for the two of you.

A dining table against a dark blue wall.

Set a simple table It doesn’t take a grand arrangement to make a statement. Something as simple as colourful glass and crockery bring a table setting to life. And small touches, like serving juice from a carafe rather than the carton, make a difference.

Hang lighting low Make dark, winter mornings feel cosier indoors. Hanging lighting low over the dining table makes eating there feel more intimate. And when the table isn’t in use, you can always add a hook on the ceiling to pull the lights back and out of the way.

‘During the week, mornings are about getting on our way to work as quickly as possible. At the weekends, we make more time for being together and for conversation’

Make a habit of it ‘We like the idea that you can make an occasion out of any meal. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner… If we can make something everyday feel like a celebration, Olly and I are happy to stay at home. You don’t have to go to a restaurant to make it feel special,’ says Sophie.
