Let’s play for change
From 20 November to 24 December for every children’s book and toy sold during the campaign period, the IKEA Foundation will make a donation of € 1 to projects in some of the poorest communities in the world, supporting children’s development and learning, equal participation, sports and of course – play.
1. IS THIS THE EASIEST TOY YOU COULD EVER MAKE? Probably. All you need is a cardboard box and a little bit of paint, and you’re good to go. Keep it simple with a winding road or let you imagination go wild.
2. OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS... Of cardboard. Make a few very simple buildings and pyramids (with a tunnel carved our for passing locomotives), and head out on the trip of a lifetime.
4. ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE. Especially when the stage is this simple to whip together. Get the largest pieces of cardboard you can find, and cut whatever shapes you’d like. We chose a classic theatre curtain, waves, a sun, and a giant ice cream cone (because who doesn’t love ice cream?). Tape separate pieces together in the back and reinforce them with bamboo sticks, then hang the curtain from a rod (you could also hang it in a doorway!).
