3 ways to make the most of behind the sofa

01 October 2015

How does it look behind your sofa? For most of us it’s a wall or an empty space to hide from horror movies, which (useful though it is!) got us thinking about ways to make behind the couch a bit more practical using loads of storage and different “zones” in IKEA speak. Here’s a couple of zones we like from a living room featured in this years catalogue.

A FAMILY WORKSPACE ZONE suits homes that don’t have a designated “home office space”. This one uses a wall storage system that’s easily customised to make a desk and the height and amount of storage space can be adjusted to whatever suits.

THIS EAT AND PLAY ZONE  is super practical. We’ve set it up with a kids focus with a play area and afternoon snack space, but it could just as easily be an adult dining area when there’s a big sports event or something on TV.

We’re always fans of nook spaces where you can find a cosy spot of your own. This one we’ve made in the corner of the living room, using small sofa, lots of pillows and some gauzy fabric and paper decorations.
