[National]
IKEA Group is committed to serving and selling high quality food that is safe, healthy and produced with care for the environment. We do not tolerate any other ingredients than the ones stipulated in our recipes or product specifications.

Following the horse meat issue in the food industry the authorities, IKEA Group and our suppliers have initiated several hundred tests of our meat products. Resent results show presence of horse meat in a few samples of our meatballs from a supplier in Sweden. Together with the supplier we have decided to withdraw from sales, all products containing minced meat from pork and beef from that supplier.

In the UK and Ireland this means that both the meatballs and the wiener sausages (hotdogs) are currently not available for purchase.

“We take this situation very seriously; it is extremely important for us that our customers can trust our products”, says Louise Bangee, IKEA UK and Ireland Food Manager.

We are now reinforcing our routines to ensure that all suppliers follow applicable laws and standards. Furthermore we continue to test our products.

Meatballs and wiener sausages that are withdrawn from sales are stored frozen.

100 million.

Estimated number of children the IKEA social projects in partnership with UNICEF, UNDP and Save the Children will have benefited by the end of 2015.
