Take control of your TV and tech

01-Jun-2017
Where’s the remote?! We hear that all the time, too. Same goes for tablets, game controllers and head phones. So we came up with some low-tech tips to organize and hide all those high-tech living room things.
IKEA has living room ideas to help with your tech. An industrial style shelving unit like FJÄLLBO has solid pine shelves and metal mesh doors that let signals through. Put a basket on the top shelf to hold your remotes, too.IKEA has makes KNALLBÅGE hanging organizer that you can use as a remote control holder for a couch. It’s made of grey felt and has lots of pockets. Just drape it over the sofa’s arm or back. Want furniture to hide a TV? IKEA has a different DIY idea. Hide a TVb behind curtain panels like BIRKET fabric with a modern pattern of white, yellow and black-striped squares. Put curtain rails on the ceiling or above the TV.
Curtains from IKEA are an easy option for TV concealment. Use curtain rails on the ceiling to hang panels of fabric like BIRKET that has yellow, white, black and brown squares for a modern look. Slide them over when it’s TV time.
1. Your TV doesn’t hide from you, but you can hide it. Put curtain rails above it and hang fabric panels. Depending on the look you want, go for fabric that pops or blends in. Your remotes? Store them in closed drawers by the TV. They’re out of sight but not playing hide and seek!
IKEA can help you make a remote control storage box. Store most-used remotes in an easy-grab basket on top of a shelving unit like FJÄLLBÖ that has mesh metal doors to let signals pass through. Put other remotes in boxes with lids.
2. Smart furniture is your friend—big or small. Choose a storage unit with mesh doors that blur consoles from view and let signals through. An open back helps arrange cables, too. Store most-used tech stuff in a basket on top. Put the rest in boxes. The bag? It’s designed to hide power strips and cords.
Looking for a smart home storage ideas? To disguise cords and power strips, use IDEBO cable management bag in grey from IKEA. It’s made of thick plastic and looks like a handbag.
Want a sofa organizer? KNALLBÅGE from IKEA is a grey felt hanging organiser for accessories with pockets for remotes, magazines and more. It can drape over the arms or back of your sofa.
3. Stuff all over your sofa? Leave it there, sort of. Drape pocket organizers on the back and the arm—one for each person and their tech accessories. Glue or iron on fun fabric to personalize. The catch? You still have to remember what each remote does! (Markers or labels might help.)
We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
