Local community involvement
The IKEA vision is to “create a better everyday life for the many”. In developing our local community program, IKEA Perth & Adelaide has decided that one of the best ways to support this vision is to help improve the environment in which children develop in our local communities.
For over 5 years, IKEA has partnered with HeartKids WA and SA, a not for profit organisation that provides assistance to families with a child or children with a heart disorder.
IKEA and our co-workers fundraise for HeartKids through a number of events including their annual ball in both states and the City to Bay Fun Run in Adelaide.
IKEA also run in store activities for HeartKids, which not only raise money but also awareness of the organisation in the local community. These events have included hosting an annual HeartKids party for the HeartKids and their families in our in-store children’s play area and ball pit.
IKEA is also a global partner of UNICEF and Save the Children. This relationship helps fund programs to improve the education and health of children in Australia and overseas.
Our focus on education has led to local relationships being established with universities and institutions in Perth and Adelaide.
In Adelaide, IKEA lends its support to hospitality trainees at the Australian Institute South Australia (AISA) and Visual Communications and Industrial Design students from the School of Art, Architecture and Design at UniSA.
In Perth, we support Interior and Spatial Design students at Edith Cowan University (ECU).
In addition to our long-term partnerships with HeartKids, UNICEF and Save the Children, we also provide assistance for selected one off projects and events.
