Bring Change To Your Home This New Year
[National]  At the beginning of every New Year, we all long for and welcome change – New Year’s resolutions, goals to make our lives better, aspirations to go on more holidays, desires to reinvent our homes, the list goes on.
Sally DuBois – First Visual Merchandiser says, “At IKEA this New Year, it’s all about easy home renewal. Just because you have a tight budget, doesn’t mean that changes at home are impossible.”

An easy way to make the rooms of your home feel refreshed is by adding collections of plants, and flowers in vases. Greenhouses are also a popular option, particularly for those who may not have a large backyard, or live in courtyard and apartment style living.

“Vases don’t always have to match – it’s good to mix and match, and experiment with different sizes, colours, and styles. It’s not only what’s in the vase that makes it a focal point, but it’s the vase itself too. Consider grouping vases like BLADET together to give a greater effect in the room.”

“A SOCKER greenhouse is a great addition to any home. They are easy to maintain, and can be filled with soil from the bottom, or simply with a collection of smaller dishes and pots,” says Sally.

New lighting can also always help to brighten and revive a room. It’s as simple as plugging in a decorative lamp on a side table, windowsill, or shelf.

“Decorative table lamps can come in a variety of styles and colours, from the brightly-coloured sculptures of the GAVIK and LJUSÅS table lamps to the organic shapes of KOPPAR table lamps. It’s easy to find a lamp that suits you and your room, and makes it feel new,” says Sally.

Never underestimate the power of cushions. Whether it’s just changing the cover, or buying new ones, cushions can help to breathe new life into a sofa or armchair. They can even look great stacked on a bookshelf or underneath a coffee table.

“It’s hard to go wrong with cushions – all you need to do is find a colour that’s already in the room and coordinate with that. Go for bold and bright, with eye-catching patterns, and remember, the cushions don’t all have to match with each other,” says Sally.
